Improving sustainability in U.S. Poultry and Egg Production means not only focusing on bird health and welfare but also reducing costs and maximizing productivity and addressing any societal concerns.

U.S. poultry and egg farmers are dedicated to providing safe, nutritious food while maintaining the highest quality care for their hens. At the same time, farmers understand the importance of protecting the land, water and air for their communities and future generations, and continually look to identify ways for improvement.

The total economic impact of the U.S. poultry industry, including supplier and induced impact, is €405 billion ($470 billion), and about €28.37 billion ($32.9 billion) in taxes.

The U.S. poultry farmers involved in the production and processing of poultry provide 1,814,200 jobs that pay €86.4 billion ($100.2 billion) in wages to families throughout the country.

The U.S. egg industry has added nearly 19 eggs per capita in consumption over the last five years.

The value of all U.S. egg production in 2017 was €6.5 billion ($7.55 billion), up 16% from €5.6 billion ($6.51 billion) in 2016.

In 2017, the U.S. egg industry had a 23% increase in U.S. egg exports, representing €215 million ($249 million) in value.
