Denmark Horticulture Experience Program

Denmark has 62% of its land cultivated for horticulture. 52 percent is used for corn, 20 percent for grass, 4 percent for roots, and 4 percent for seeds. Denmark is also a major producer of various types of vegetables, fruits, berries, cut flowers, and potted bedding plants.

This variety of cultivation is available through our programme, which allows you to work as an intern on these horticultural farms in Denmark.

Denmark exports its agricultural products, producing three times the amount of food it needs for itself.

According to data, there are about 500 hectares of greenhouses in Denmark, and 375 of those are used for ornamental plants. Denmark has approximately 1700 greenhouses and nurseries.

Typical crops grown in a greenhouse setting include tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, mushrooms, potted plants, cut flowers, and bulbs. Field-grown crops consist of cabbage, strawberries, beans, and other fruits and berries. Nursery production specializes in growing trees, shrubs, roses, and perennials. Most of the greenhouse production is dedicated to growing flowering plants and vegetables.
